My Orcutt/Urquhart Line:
Robin Bary, daughter of Doris Elaine Glasier, daughter of Ralph Cedric Glasier (11/23/1892), son of Etta Louise Orcutt (b 1/13/1854) daughter of George Warren Orcutt (b 1/29/1830), son of Harvey A. Orcutt (b 5/4/1802) son of Capt. Harvey Orcutt (b 11/24/1770), son of Capt. William Orcutt, son of Caleb Orcutt (b 1690) son of William Orcutt (b 1664) (b 9/18/1618). (NOTE: I have included the info & dates I have from my uncle. I have noticed that some are slightly different from some of the geneological records I have found on the internet.) |

When I became involved with the Scottish Fold breed it made me start to think about my own Scottish heritage. A personal pedigree I had heard about, but had previously not payed much attention to. I knew that was where my freckles, and the red hilights in my hair, had come from, but that was about it. My uncle, Robert Glasier, is a real geneology buff and had traced out family back quite a ways. When I asked my Mom about the Scottish ancestors, she told me we were from the Urquhart clan, connected by the Orcutt name. So I named my cattery Urquhart, as it seemed appropriate that my "cat clan" should be identified with my own Scottish clan connection. I also contacted "Uncle Bob" and compiled his research on our family tree in my computer.
I think the Urquhart motto is inspiring: Mean Well, Speak Well, Do Well. A wise motto I think anyone would "do well" to live by. I try to remember that motto, always, as I go through life. |

Some Excellent Urquhart/Orcutt Links, including Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness. (And, of course, I can't resist, that poor ole "monster") |
Urquhart Scottish Folds at the Dunedin Highland Games & Festival |
Before we moved to Central Florida in '97, we lived in the Clearwater/Dunedin area on the West Coast of Florida. We attended the games with the cats for about 5 years ('93 - '97). We had a wonderful time and made many new friends. I think quite a few of the attendees were delightfully suprised to find there is such a wonderful breed of scottish cat. We hope to get involved with more festivals in the future.
We have also attended the Celtic Festival at the Florida State Fair in February of '97, and '98.
We'd like to thank Sandy Keith of Dunedin, and Tom Misener, who organizes the Celtic Festival, for allowing us to particiapte in these events. |

"Castle Craig is the hereditary seat of the Chief of Clan Urquhart. Located on the Black Isle, overlooking the Cromarty Firth, in Ross-shire, Scotland, it is now a ruin; and is the last remaining Urquhart castle on the Black Isle, ancestral home of the Urquharts."
